Born in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Stephen Richardson grew up in the musical entrapments of the Salvation Army, where his father was Bandmaster for 40 years. Taking an active interest in music from a young age, his early music development came from performing in the S.A’s brass and choral sections.
An accomplished pianist, guitarist and vocalist, Stephen read Music at Kingston University, part of which he spent studying film-scoring under Perry La Marca at California State University. In 2012 he completed his Masters with Distinction in Compositional Studies at Salford University, under the tutelage of Prof. Peter Graham. While at Salford, Stephen won the 2012 Kirklees Composition Award for brass band, and was runner up in the BASBWE windband competition in association with the RAF Central Band.
Stephen currently spreads his time between composing, teaching, and performing with quirky covers band, Ze Trio! Stephen is building a portfolio of pieces with UK publishers, and has produced several tracks that have been placed with US music libraries for use with film & TV.
